At our furniture painting workshops, we combine creativity, sustainability, and world-class knowledge. Over the past five years, we’ve travelled to the UK to train directly with Annie Sloan and Tristan Merriam (from TV’s Money for Nothing and Doghead Designs), mastering the art of furniture painting and upcycling. Now, we bring that expertise back to Portugal, helping you breathe new life into old pieces while reducing waste and promoting sustainable living.
A Journey from Student to Expert
My first visit to Annie Sloan’s studio was a revelation. I discovered that Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ was more than just a tool for creating beautiful furniture; it was a way to revive tired pieces and make them relevant to today’s homes. Each return trip for further training with Annie and her Painters in Residence expanded my skills, deepening my passion for transforming forgotten furniture into unique, stylish items. Now, we’re dedicated to teaching these skills to others, empowering you to create sustainable homes through upcycling.
Furniture Painting Workshops & Our Secondhand Collection
At the heart of our business is a love for secondhand furniture. Many of the pieces we source come in almost perfect condition and just need a bit of wax or a quick clean to be ready for resale. However, some items need a little more care and attention to bring them back to life. We’re passionate about making every piece reusable and appealing to the modern-day home, which is why we take some of these more worn pieces, upcycle them, and sell them as truly one-of-a-kind items.
But we don’t always have time to upcycle every item ourselves. That’s where you come in! Some of our pieces are sold as-is at bargain prices, giving you the perfect opportunity to join one of our workshops, pick up a piece, and transform it yourself. With the techniques you’ll learn from us, you can create something completely unique for your home while also contributing to a sustainable, circular economy.
Why Join Our Furniture Painting Workshops?
Our workshops are the ideal way to learn both creative and sustainable approaches to furniture painting. Whether you’re looking to refresh a piece for your home or try your hand at upcycling for the first time, Lucia and Philippa—our resident experts—are here to guide you. With years of hands-on experience and direct training from the best in the industry, we offer workshops that teach you the skills to transform any piece into something extraordinary.
What You’ll Learn:
- Hands-on techniques like distressing, waxing, and colour blending using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™.
- How to transform all kinds of surfaces—from wood to metal and beyond—into beautiful, stylish pieces.
- Insider tips from our UK training with Annie Sloan and her team, giving you the know-how to achieve professional-looking results.
- How to upcycle secondhand furniture into one-of-a-kind, sustainable pieces that align with your personal style.
Whether you’re working on a tired piece from your own home or a bargain find from our shop, our workshops are designed to give you the confidence to make it your own. Plus, every item you upcycle is one less piece headed to the landfill, supporting the global push for more sustainable living.
Sustainable Living Through Upcycling
At its core, upcycling is about rethinking waste. Instead of throwing away old or damaged furniture, we see it as an opportunity to create something new and valuable. By restoring and repurposing secondhand items, we’re helping reduce the demand for new resources, lowering environmental impact, and keeping usable materials out of landfills.
When you attend our workshops, you’re not just learning to paint—you’re becoming part of a movement towards more sustainable, mindful living. Each piece you restore becomes part of a circular economy, where items are reused and appreciated for years to come instead of being discarded after one use.
